2021-10-22: The Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar on Friday said that even on the following Friday of the holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal and the blessed birth of the holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the authorities did not allow Muslims to perform an important duty like Friday prayers at the largest mosque of Kashmir - the historic Central Jamia Masjid Srinagar.

Heavy Firing In J&K's Poonch On Day 12 Of Encounter As Army Hunts Terrorists

2021-10-22: Heavy firing resumed in a forest in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district today as the army moved in to hunt down terrorists that have been hiding in the area for the past 12 days. The encounter, which is one of the longest anti-terrorist operations in recent times, has seen fierce fighting between the security forces and terrorists, who have been intermittently firing and withdrawing back into the densely forested area. Nine soldiers including two army officers died in action since the encounter started nearly two weeks ago.

NIA Raids 10 Locations In Kashmir, Arrests 8 Persons

2021-10-22: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Friday raided 10 more locations in Kashmir and arrested eight persons accused of providing logistical and material support to 'terror' operatives in the Valley. As per NIA spokesman, NIA conducted searches at 10 locations in Srinagar, Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag and Baramulla districts of Kashmir Valley.

2021-10-22: The National Conference Party President Dr Farooq Abdullah Friday met many delegations including a Kashmiri Pandit delegation, which called on him here at his residence, a party statement said. Top Security Officials Review Security Situation In J&K Ahead Of Shah's Visit

2021-10-22: Top officials of various security agencies participated in a high-level conference to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's maiden visit to the Union Territory after the abrogation of Article 370 on Saturday. The security review conference was chaired by General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 16 Corps Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar and was attended by senior police, paramilitary, army and other officers, including Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh, they said. Bunkers Make A Comeback In Srinagar After Seven Years

2021-10-22: Security bunkers are making a comeback on the city roads after nearly seven-eight years and more paramilitary personnel are being deployed following the spate of civilian killings by militants in Kashmir over the past two weeks. Security bunkers manned by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) are being set up in many areas of Srinagar where these were removed between 2011 and 2014 following the overall improvement in the security situation across Kashmir. Sources said constructing new bunkers and putting more personnel on the ground was being done to cut the free movement of militants.

Mehbooba Sends Legal Notice To Satya Pal Malik To Pay Rs 10 Cr

2021-10-22: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti Friday sent a legal notice to former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik seeking Rs 10 crore compensation for his alleged 'defamatory' remarks against her. The notice comes days after Malik, who is now the governor of Meghalaya, allegedly said Mehbooba Mufti was a beneficiary of the now-abandoned Roshni scheme which aimed to grant proprietary rights to occupants of state land for charges.
