Setting Up SIA Assault On Democratic, Civil Liberties Of Citizens: PAGD

2021-11-02: The Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) on Tuesday said that the latest decision of the administration to set up State Investigating Agency (SIA) by all counts is only aimed to strengthen the repressive apparatus in Jammu and Kashmir. In a statement, PAGD spokesperson M Y Tarigami said that the formation of one more agency empowered with unbridled powers is one more assault on the democratic rights and civil liberties of the citizens.

J&K Sets Up Anti-militancy Body

2021-11-02: Now Jammu and Kashmir will have its own State Investigation Agency (SIA) in place which will investigate militancy related cases. This will aid the existing National Investigation Agency, an apex body dealing with counter-militancy tasks, and has been active for the past three years in Jammu and Kashmir , to bring down the militancy activities, funding related cases.

Sedition Charges: Mathura Advocate Takes Up Case Of 3 Kashmiri Students

2021-11-02: After families of the three Kashmiri students charged with sedition approached lawyers in different cities, advocate Madhuvan Dutt Chaturvedi of Mathura has agreed to defend them. The lawyers' associations in Agra had decided not to provide legal assistance to the students, who were charged with sedition after they allegedly cheered Pakistan's win against India in a T-20 World Cup match.

Hate Speech Row: BJP Relieves Ex-MLC From Jammu From All Party Posts

2021-11-02: The Bharatiya Janta Party on Tuesday relieved ex-MLC from Jammu, Vikram Randhawa from all the party posts and responsibilities over his hate speech statement against a particular community. BJP president J&K Unit, Ravinder Raina said that Vikram Randhawa (Former MLC) is relieved from all the party posts and responsibilities including the post of BJP JK-UT Secretary with immediate effect.

OGW Held, Arms, Ammunition And Narcotics Also Recovered In Kupwara: Police

2021-11-02: The security forces on Tuesday claimed to have arrested an OGW and also recovered a large quantity of narcotics, arms and ammunition in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. In a joint operation based on the input that one person namely Adil Hussain son of Mir Haider Shah of Takia Badarkote who is a hardcore OGW and is also involved in narco-terrorism has received consignment of weapons and narcotics from across the border.

2021-11-02: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Tuesday questioned the intentions of political voices who oppose August 5th decisions while forswearing Apni Party's efforts that ensured protection of rights on land and jobs for residents of Jammu and Kashmir. Bukhari said the rants of political parties of J&K vis-à-vis de-operationalization of Article 370 and 35-A seem to be superfluous as they have failed to acknowledge the guarantees on rights of the people of J&K accorded by the government of India following Apni Party's rigorous pursuit in this direction.

Poonch Operation: Man Arrested For Links With Pak Militants

2021-11-02: A man was arrested for alleged links with militants from Jammu and Kashmir and across the border in Pakistan after he was among a dozen people detained for questioning in connection with the ongoing search operation in a forest belt in Poonch district, officials said on Tuesday. The accused Yasir Arafat, a resident of Bhata Durian forest, was among three suspects detained by the police for questioning from Nepal while they were trying to flee the country on October 25, the officials said.
